HIGH SCHOOL
Rooted in faith,
reaching for excellence
The key components of all courses offered in the high school program at Ilm Academy are independent thinking, collaborative learning, intellectual discourse, and connecting content and concepts with everyday life. We believe our youth need to be provided with a learning environment where they can explore and investigate for deeper conceptual acquisition.
Program philosophy
All courses are mapped out and implemented in a way that gives our students a chance to sharpen their creative minds and skills, devise innovative solutions to problems, and, through these experiences, discover their potential to make an impact—bringing about positive change in their lives and the lives of others.
Math
Math courses cultivate independent thinking and creative problem-solving through engaging, collaborative learning experiences that build confidence, analytical skills, and a lifelong appreciation for mathematical reasoning.
Science
Science courses follow NGSS standards, engaging students in real-world inquiry through experiments, scientific practices, and crosscutting concepts that foster critical thinking, curiosity, and deeper understanding.
Arabic
Ilm Academy’s A-G approved Arabic program builds language proficiency progressively, from Arabic I in 8th grade through Arabic III in 10th grade, meeting UC admissions requirements while deepening cultural understanding.
English
High School ELA builds critical thinking and analytical skills to prepare students for college-level English. Through fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and real-world discussions, students develop strong essay writing, analysis, and reflective skills.
Social Studies
History courses develop civic awareness, moral reasoning, and critical thinking through diverse perspectives. Students explore world civilizations, U.S. history, civics, and economics using rich texts and primary sources.
Physical Education
Physical Education develops fitness, physical competence, and confidence through engaging, age-appropriate activities. Students build healthy habits, teamwork, and lifelong appreciation for active living and personal well-being.
Dual Enrollment
High school students can enroll in community college courses through our dual enrollment program, taking UC-transferable classes toward GE requirements. The school’s academic counselor supports students in planning their coursework and future field of study.
